Witchcraft at South Leith

17 September 1629.—Ordained Geilis Alisone
to come befor ye Pulpit on ye lords day
nixt confess hir fawlt and crave Gods mercie
publicklie in ye face of ye congregatione for
seiking healthe for hir howsband frome Margaret
Sowter and continewis Margaret sowter
till farder tryell be maid be Johne Jenkin and
James Johnstoune.
(Note.—This petty quarrel was of importance
because witchcraft was supposed to enter into it.)
