Distress in Leith

Distress in Leith
We quote the following statement under the-above
heading from the pen of Charlotte M. Burns, president
of Leith Branch, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty
to Children :
“Leith, for .unemployment, is one of the blackest
spots in Scotland. Hundreds of children are in consequence
pitifully underclad, whatever resources parents
may have had in reserve having been all drawn upon.
Life would be brightened for many homes if they could
receive from those more fortunate the clothes they no
longer require.”
South Leith Church is doing a great ‘work at this
present time in relieving the distress in our “‘midst.
But gifts of clothing are urgently required. These
should be sent to the Church Halls and addressed’ to
the Deaconess. But arrangements will gladly be made
to collect any such gifts. Can you not help us ?
