The History of Leith

April 11, 2012

It might be thought that a serious error was being
committed in neglecting to put up a Memorial in the
Church to those brave men connected with South Leith
Church households who have died in the War. But the
matter is maturing, and the Committee of Session
charged with the matter have entrusted the eminent
architect, P. MacGregor Chalmers, Esq., with the preparation
of a suitable design, asking also for the estimated
cost. When the design is approved and the total cost
known, an appeal will be made to the Congregation to
subscribe the necessary amount.
It is only fitting that our ancient Church should have
this Memorial added to those which already adorn it.
