Dr. Grant and Mr Thorburn

15 Nov. 1843.—The Session considering, that Dr. Grant was to be admitted to St. Mary’s Edinr. to-morrow, and that then both the charges of the parish would be vacant, requested the Clerk to intimate to the Presbytery their wish that Dr. Grant should be appointed to act as Moderator of the Kirk Session, until one or other of the Charges of the parish shall have been supplied.
(Note.—-Dr. Grant and Mr Thorburn were both eminent ministers, and it was unfortunate for the church to lose them at a time when difficult negotiations were being conducted with the heritors and incorporations.)
