The Seven Years War

The Seven Years War is probably more famous for the decisive gains for Britain in its colonial theatre, than for its primary European war, between Austria and Prussia. Like the War of the Austrian Succession fifteen years before, the Seven Years War pitted Frederick the Great of Prussia against his nemesis, Maria Theresa of Austria. This time, however, Austria had made alliances with France and Russia, so Prussia was surrounded by enemies. Britain, along with Hanover, entered on the side of Prussia, but even so, Prussia was at a great disadvantage going against all three of the largest and most populous countries of Europe. for more click here
