Witch Bottle Discovered; Made to Ward Off Evil Spirits?

October 29, 2009—In time for Halloween, a beer bottle-turned-talisman against malicious spirits has been found buried near a former pub in England, archaeologists say.

The newfound 17th-century witch bottle (pictured)—originally made in Germany to hold other kinds of spirits—was discovered during a September archaeological dig in the county of Staffordshire. for more click here

On a grassy hill in the Leicestershire countryside, the King of England – the gold circlet of a crown on his helmeted head – sat astride a white charger and surveyed the red-earthed valley below.

He was not sitting straight. He never did. His left shoulder dipped down in an awkward-looking pose that accentuated his right shoulder. No wonder many who saw him from a distance thought him a humpback. for more click here
