Contextual response to the Edinburgh Waterfront. The artistic intent: awareness raising and debate around Place, Planning, Landownership, Developer Led Regeneration and scope for alternative models.

JUMP 2 DE-Light

JUMP 2 DE-Light by artist Shaeron Averbuch. Based on proactive research and analysis JUMP, acronym for Joined Up Master Planning, sets the exhibition theme, a contextual response to the Edinburgh waterfront regeneration. A flea with “Catalytic” strengths set to fight the “Plague on Architecture”, and empower the communities that survive the effects of developer led regeneration. The exhibition includes temporary exhibitions around the Granton building, exhibits within the building and an interactive installation in the glass dome of the lighthouse.

JUMP 2 exhibition of mixed media artworks created with the intent on raising awareness and generating debate on issues connected with developer led regeneration, missed opportunity, landownership, quality, design, place making and planning issues.

DE-Light installation set within the glass dome of the Lighthouse. This intervention highlights the landmark building at Granton and allows visitors the rare opportunity to experience and “delight” in the architectural gem providing views overlooking the surrounding area. In response to the Development and Environment viewed from within this illuminating space, visitors can interact with the installation. Offering a moment of contemplation to capture their thoughts in relation to the experience, visitors add written text expressing individual thought in relation to the Development and the Environment viewed out on along with their experience of the Lighthouse building. DE-Light is an intervention wishing to share visitors experience and contextual responses and in so doing cast light on a spectrum of current, complex, issues in urbanism that the public are increasingly being asked to consult and participate in.
