Help Celebrate 100 Years of Adult Education

Records show that Adult Education classes in Edinburgh began a century ago – in 1908. To help celebrate this the City of Edinburgh Council’s Community Learning and Development team and the Community High Schools are creating an exhibition. To bring this event to life, they are looking for any photographs, memorabilia or anecdotes you may have of you or your relatives taking part in classes.

Cllr Marilyne MacLaren, Convener for Education, Children and Families said:

“Adult Education has always played an important role in our city and I am delighted they are celebrating such a momentous anniversary. I will enjoy visiting the exhibition and finding out more about how Adult Education has changed over the years. I am also keen to work constructively to move Adult Education forward to another successful 100 years.”

Please contact Pat Brechin on tel: 469 3373, e-mail pat.brechin@edinburgh.gov.uk with any of your items by May 13. The exhibition is due to take place on August 30. All items will be returned after the event.
