1 ROBERT SIBBALD (1641 – 1722)

A native of Edinburgh, he studied medicine there and at the famous medical school in Leyden. His interest in medicinal plants led him to setting up the Edinburgh Physic Garden which ultimately formed the basis of the Royal Botanic Garden. He was appointed as Physician for Scotland by Charles II in 1679 and subsequently went on to be a founder member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. for more click here
