The Poppy Poet


Every year on the Sunday nearest to the 11th of November – Armistice Day – the Queen lays a wreath of vivid, scarlet poppies at the Cenotaph in the middle of London at precisely 11am to commemorate those who lost their lives in the service of their country during two world wars; and at the Festival of Remembrance in the Albert Hall, usually held the preceding Saturday night, thousands of poppy petals flutter down on the silent gathering below where heads are bowed in a moving tribute to those who were killed. for more click here.
