Doors to open on scandalous Victorian trial

IN A trial that scandalised polite Victorian society in 19th-century Scotland, socialite Madeleine Smith stood in the dock accused of poisoning her older French lover with arsenic.

Now, 150 years after Miss Smith walked free with a not proven verdict, the trial is to be re-enacted with members of the public as jurors and court staff reading from the original records. for more click here
