Trench digging at Pinkie battle site

A BIG archaeological dig at the recognised site of the Battle of Pinkie has uncovered precious little evidence to support historical records that a ferocious military engagement took place there, according to the site owner.

A three week excavation of Gula Flats, on the outskirts of Wallyford and Musselburgh, drew to a close last Friday with little to show for the vast network of trenches but a handful of musket balls and some prehistoric building foundations, said prominent businessman Howard Wallace. for more click here
