“So near and yet so far”! That phrase has a familiar ring to anyone who is involved with family history! There are not many miles between Rosslyn, “mediaeval strong-hold of the Sinclair chief of the ‘lordly line of high St Clair'”, and the narrow wynds of South Leith the seaport of Edinburgh.
