A very English Christmas

Christmas, 1823 and William Aitchison and his wife Jane Mylne dress for the evening’s entertainment. The musical quartet will be playing some of Beethoven’s new works, the house is decked with holly and ivy and the log fires burn welcomingly. The Rococo-decorated drawing room is especially magnificent with views across the Forth where son George’s sailing ships can often be observed on their trips to Mauritius or the regular journey between Leith and London. for more click here
