Day Scotland helped to lift spirits after the end of the war

SIXTY YEARS ago this week, Scotland’s footballers helped their countrymen to put the dark years of the Second World War behind them as they played their first competitive international for 7½ years.
Scotland faced Wales at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham in the Home Nations Championship on October 19, 1946, and their 3-1 defeat hardly mattered. They were back on the park playing proper international football again, and that is what counted. for more click here
