Cardinal attacks ‘state-sponsored’ bigotry

CARDINAL Keith O’Brien, the leader of Scotland’s Roman Catholics, has launched an attack on “state sponsored sectarian discrimination” which he claimed doomed to failure government attempts to tackle bigotry in Scottish society.

The cardinal called for the abolition of the 300-year-old Act of Settlement, which prevents Roman Catholics or those who marry them from ascending to the throne. He asserted that bigotry would remain a major problem until that change occured. for more click here
