The Signing of the National Covenant-1638
This picture depicts the traditional view of the signing of the “National Covenant”. However it was actually signed not in the graveyard of Grayfriars Church,Edinburgh but actually inside the Church. Later Covenanter prisoners were held at Grayfriars before being transported to the Colonies from Leith or to execution at the Gallow Lee on Leith Walk.
