IN ORDER to catch a glimpse of the clipper ship the SV Carrick, you must first take a train to the Ayrshire town of Irvine and then make the five-minute walk down to the harbour. It is there, rearing up on a slipway beside the Scottish Maritime Museum, that you will find one of the most important seafaring vessels of the modern age slowly and quietly rotting away. for more click here
