The Logan Stone

This is the Tombstone of Sir William Logan of Cotfield dated 1584 and is the oldest Tombstone still to be seen at South Leith Parish Church and can be found in the East Porch of the Church. The Family of Sir william were connected to the Barton family who were famous Leith pirates during the reigns of James III and IV. They later became merchants. There house was at Cotfield lodgings which stood beside the church and they owned extensive property in Leith as far as Seafield.
